What’s the difference between an Original and Express bill of lading?

An Original Bill of Lading means that ownership of the goods belongs to the person who is in possession of one or all of the originals.

Having an Original BOL means that a seller can maintain ownership of the goods until the agreed payment for the goods is received (even after arrival at destination). An Express Bill of Lading means that effectively the ownership of the goods has immediately been transferred to the buyer of the goods and that buyer can take immediate delivery of the goods at destination, once they have been Customs Cleared and released at destination.
